远在春秋战国时代，节气还只有仲春、仲夏、仲秋和仲冬。后来，古代劳动人民通过长期的经验累积和智慧，对其不断地改进和完善，到秦汉年间，有了完整的二十四节气。

In the Spring and Autumn period and the Warring States era, there were only solar terms of midspring, midsummer, midautumn, and midwinter. Then the ancient working people accumulated a lot of experience and wisdom to continuously improve it. In the Qin and Han Dynasties, there had been a whole system of twenty-four solar terms.

对于插画师李晓林来说，二十四节气是古人的智慧，是经过时间洗礼后留下的最精华的东西，是不可遗忘的民俗。她用自己擅长的方式，在宽厚的历史中寻得一种精致而沉静的表达。

For illustrator Li Xiaolin, the twenty-four solar terms is the wisdom of the ancient and the essence of time, which should never be forgotten. She found a delicate and quiet way to fully express them in the clement history.

李晓林是一个北方姑娘，却有一张南方古典美女的温润脸庞。出于对传统文化的喜爱，她开始创作二十四节气系列的水粉画。她的画同她一样让人惊艳，笔法温润、画风古朴的二十四节气插画，惊倒了无数人。

Li Xiaolin is a northern girl, who has a moist face of the southern classical beauty. For the love of traditional culture, she began creating the gouache of the twenty-four solar terms. Her paintings are as amazing as herself which are soft with simplicity.

作画过程中，由于各地习俗和南北方的文化差异，为了绘制的主题更为准确，她细心地翻阅各种资料，只为自己表达出来的节气画作尽善尽美。

In the process of creating, she had carefully looked up various materials because there are huge cultural differences between the north and south, and all these efforts are served to accurately and perfectly express the theme of this solar term work.

二十四节气画完后，李晓林打算再整理一套番外篇，主要针对注重食俗的节气，比如元宵节、端午节。她想用美食拉近人与节气的距离，寻回日渐稀薄的时节味道；用美图唤起节气相关的传统习俗，领悟对自然万物馈赠的敬仰与感恩。

After finishing this work, Li Xiaolin is planning to create a series of side stories mainly for the eating habits of the solar terms such as the Lantern Festival and Dragon Boat Festival to narrow the distance between people and the solar terms, and use the attractive pictures to recall the customs, and to understand and appreciate the gift of nature.

节气作为传统文化的一个重要部分，那些看似“土掉渣”的民俗文化里却藏着最真实本源的美，暗藏了很多朴素的智慧。“春生、夏长、秋收、冬藏。”它用自然规律告诫人们顺应天时。春分日暖、白露生寒，人立于天地间，感知世间万物，在循环中获得与自然的共生，如老子所说：“人法地、地法天、天法道，道法自然”。

Solar terms as an important part of traditional folks which seem out-of-date actually conceals the most original beauty and wisdom. “spring sprouts, summer grows, autumn harvests, and winter hides”. This is what the solar terms tell us that we are supposed to follow the laws of nature. Equinox starts warming and White Dew starts chilling. People live in the nature, depend on the nature, and feel the nature. As Laozi said “Man is derived from nature, nature is derived from heaven, heaven is derived from Dao, and Dao is self-derived.”
